Out the Boxx: The Unsigned Future Southern Hayze: Blue Magic

It's Blue Magic Hoe!
Remember when music was the only remedy to whatever you were going through? When Outkast, Common Sense, and Wu Tang Clan ruled hip hop we always had feel- good hip hop. Today, we have rappers turned singers turned actors returning back to rap only to discover they are no longer relevant. So who can we look to for the future of hip hop? Southern Hayze is a rap duo found in the deep south of Florida. Carrying a sound similar to hip hop legends Outkast, Southern Hayze combines southern style rap with crazy beats and flows that leave you bouncing ya head. Their mixtape 'Blue Magic', is a rap diamond in the rough.

With club bangers  like 'Cut Up', 'Talk My Shit', and 'Every Now N Then', Southern Hayze gives listeners a healthy balance of songs that go hard and songs that give you something to think about. Blue Magic is the mix tape that gives hip hop music hope.

Of all the tracks on the cd, my two favorite are 'Real TV' and 'Bring You Home'. 'Real TV' shows off the lyrical abilities of Blak the Ceo, founder and artistic director of Southern Hayze. Jumping OFF the bandwagon of elongated, off key hooks, 'Real TV' is a song that addresses all the absurd truths found in real life today. For three minutes straight, Blak lays verse after verse, slightly reminiscent to Big Boi of Outkast

In the end, the quality of music found in Blue Magic is unprecedented. This is the first unsigned rap group I have come across that sounds like they could release a track off their mix tape today. Bringing southern flavor to the streets of Orlando, S.H is on a mission of taking over underground hip hop and bringing it to the light.

S.H is currently in the last round of 102 JAMZ: Battle of the Home Grown. You can vote for them HEREYou can listen to and download their second mix tape Blue Magic below.
