Amy Winehouse: Lioness: Hidden Treasures

One of my all time lyricist vocalist will always be Miss Amy Winehouse. Her troubled personal life overshadowed the depth of pure genius that lived and suffered within herself. Her lyrics spoke to me when words were unfamiliar. Her pain and love and ultimately love lost, is transparent in her tone and lyrics. I have never been a fan of releasing cd's post death of any artist. I feel as though if they wanted the track out, they would have already released it. Still, the cd Lioness: Hidden Treasures is not all music. In fact, there are several unheard versions of popular songs you and I have grown to love. Songs like Valerie, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, and Tears Dry can be found on the cd. As well as recently surfaced tracks like Like Smoke feat. Nas. Below is the tracklisting and download link. May her soul finally rest.

1.Our Day Will Come
2. Between The Cheats
3. Tears Dry (Original Version)
4. Will You Love Me Tomorrow?
5. Like Smoke feat. Nas
6. Valerie
7. The Girl From Ipanema
8. Halftime
9. Wake up Alone (Original Version)

B.O.B- EPIC: Every Play is Crucial [Mixtape]

Grammy nominated rapper B.O.B recently dropped his most recent mix tape entitled EPIC: Every Play Is Crucial. In early interviews, B.O.B has been reported saying he will stick to his rap roots on his next studio album. Best known for his nontraditional sound of combining rap with his guitar skills, B.O.B shows off his lyrical skills on this mix tape. Putting together a sleuth of features that include Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Eminem, T.I, Mos Def, Roscoe Dash, and Meek Mill, B.O.B has been anything but silent and missing from the game. His upcoming sophomore effort, Strange Clouds, aims to stretch the boundaries of music. "It's all about the fusion between the outer limits and the inner limits, from the sky to the ground; it's everything in between, above and below, so His upcoming sophomore effort, Strange Clouds, aims to stretch the boundaries of music. "It's all about the fusion between the outer limits and the inner limits, from the sky to the ground; it's everything in between, above and below, so Strange Clouds, for me, it's my 'Twilight Zone,' " he told Mixtape Daily on the video set for his "Strange Clouds" single, for me, it's my 'Twilight Zone,' " he told Mixtape Daily on the video set for his "Strange Clouds" single

There has also been talk about a collaboration cd with label mate T.I, which I could live without. (Sorry) At any rate, I am a huge fan of B.O.B. I seen him live when he performed at University of Central Florida, and his talent is extremely undervalued. His live presence on stage does not represent the number of cd's he has released. Like a veteran, B.O.B puts out a hot mix tape in the midst of bad music. Definitely check it out.  DOWNLOAD HERE.

Out the Boxx: The Unsigned Future Southern Hayze: Blue Magic

It's Blue Magic Hoe!
Remember when music was the only remedy to whatever you were going through? When Outkast, Common Sense, and Wu Tang Clan ruled hip hop we always had feel- good hip hop. Today, we have rappers turned singers turned actors returning back to rap only to discover they are no longer relevant. So who can we look to for the future of hip hop? Southern Hayze is a rap duo found in the deep south of Florida. Carrying a sound similar to hip hop legends Outkast, Southern Hayze combines southern style rap with crazy beats and flows that leave you bouncing ya head. Their mixtape 'Blue Magic', is a rap diamond in the rough.

With club bangers  like 'Cut Up', 'Talk My Shit', and 'Every Now N Then', Southern Hayze gives listeners a healthy balance of songs that go hard and songs that give you something to think about. Blue Magic is the mix tape that gives hip hop music hope.

Of all the tracks on the cd, my two favorite are 'Real TV' and 'Bring You Home'. 'Real TV' shows off the lyrical abilities of Blak the Ceo, founder and artistic director of Southern Hayze. Jumping OFF the bandwagon of elongated, off key hooks, 'Real TV' is a song that addresses all the absurd truths found in real life today. For three minutes straight, Blak lays verse after verse, slightly reminiscent to Big Boi of Outkast

In the end, the quality of music found in Blue Magic is unprecedented. This is the first unsigned rap group I have come across that sounds like they could release a track off their mix tape today. Bringing southern flavor to the streets of Orlando, S.H is on a mission of taking over underground hip hop and bringing it to the light.

S.H is currently in the last round of 102 JAMZ: Battle of the Home Grown. You can vote for them HEREYou can listen to and download their second mix tape Blue Magic below.

Who's Cooler Than Mike Posner?

You probably remember Mike Posner from his popular track "Cooler Than Me". Well, he is back with a mixtape entitled "The Layover". Hosted by D.J Benzi and Don Cannon, Posner shows off his vocal versatility on this cd. His ability to sing hooks in any type of genre makes him a chameleon in the game.

The presence of Bun B, Bei Major, Twista, and Big K.R.I.T is just an example on how diverse Posner actually is. Although the style and vibe of the mixtape is reminiscent of his previous work, the features on this mix tape should broaden his fan base a lot more.
The cool thing about this mix tape is Posner gives you suggestions on 'when to' listen to each track. Whether it be from 'drive to this', 'smoke to this', or even 'fuck to this', this mix tape seems to serve many uses other than listening purposes.

Allow Me To Introduce Wiley

Wiley
Am I the only person who has noticed how the UK consistently produces such great music? From popular artists like Adele, Estelle, M.I.A, and Amy Winehouse to global djs like David Guetta and Calvin Harris, the only next logical genre of music that awaits their presence is rap.

Although he is not new to rap, he has yet to make a big impact on the rap game in the states. I hope to some day change that. Wiley is one of the originators of what is called "grime music". Grime music merged in England in the early 2000's. It is a mix of UK garage, dancehall, and hip hop. It's a sound that should have already hit the States.

Wiley's flow is sick. His delivery is fast and precise. His sound is infectious. After listening to one song, you find yourself wanting more. His influence in music can be traced back to other UK artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder, and Chipmunk.

Wiley is set to release his 8th studio album Evolve or Be Extinct on January 19, 2012 (also Wiley's birthday) The first single "Link up" is now available on ITUNES HERE

Check out 'Link Up' below. If there is one thing i love and know, its definitely good music. You can also follow him on twitter @wiley_ . Make sure you check out his other music on iTunes as well. Support GOOD music.

Mixtape: Ludacris- 1.21 Gigawatts: Back To The First Time

I remember seeing Ludacris in concert for the first time back in 2003. He was free styling over legendary beats, combining his super flow with eminent beats. He paid homage to the greats before him but created his own sound and platform to pave his own way into greatness. 6 number one singles later, Luda releases his much anticipated mixtape 1.21 Gigawatts: Back To The First Time.

I must say after listening to this mixtape, there was no doubt in my mind that Luda was back, and as he puts it, to the first time. His crazy flow, which he is so well known for, is a mix of precise diction and delivery, filled with ridiculous punch lines. His target this time? None other than G.O.O.D Music artist Big Sean. Recently, rapper Drake accredits Big Sean for creating the 'supa flow' style of rap. Yes, the same flow Luda has been doing for over a decade now. Here's what Luda had to say in Bada Boom, track 6 from the mix tape.

“Counterfeit rappers say I’m stealing they flows / But I can’t steal what you never made up, b*tch! / Y’all some duplicate rap cloning n***as / I manufacture you hoes put on your makeup, b*tch!” he raps. “Let me explain, nothing’s been new since Big Daddy Kane / Flows been recycled passed around to different names. “Eleven years and still counting / And y’all get a couple of hit records, make some noise and have the nerve to start shouting?” he continues. “You lyin’ to yaself, just admit it / May not like the way I used it, but you know you ain’t invent it, boy / Do your research before you make a claim so bogus that’s
disrespecting pioneers in the game.”

Album Cover Preview: Common: "The Dreamer, The Believer"

As a huge fan of Common, I am always taken aback by his dedication to art in all forms. The cover for his new album entitled "The Dreamer, The Believer" does not fail one bit. Scheduled to be released December 20th, the Chicago native has released three bangin' singles thus far: Ghetto Dreams, Blue Sky, and his most recent Sweet. Female Rappers NOT Nicki Minaj

Though the reign of Nicki Minaj has yet to be untouched, there happens to be several new female rappers that are definitely on the come up. Let’s face it, Nicki has opened the door for new female rappers. She is the face of female rap and has been a great role model for young women across the world. Still, there is always new room for new talent- especially when they come with flows like Honey Cocaine and Lola Monroe, the First Lady of Taylor Gang.
Honey Cocaine

Featured on Tyga's Heisman Prt. 2, Honey Cocaine's tone resonates with the track and Tyga's flow. Check out the track. Definitely excited to hear more from her.
